THE PROGRAMME

Human Resource Development Programme Phase 1 (HRDP1) is the first of two phases of European Union funded capacity building - a 13 million Euro support to the education sector of Papua New Guinea. The projects Key Result Areas are:

Result-Area 1 - improvement of edcuation system management in PNG:

Secretariat for Education Sector Improvement Plan (ESIP) re-established,

Facilitation of Education Act Review,

M&E Framework and Policy Manual developed.

Result Area 2 - strengthening the capacity of Teacher College (TC) Lecturers:

TC Lecturers Professional Development Programme - 6 training modules, over 700 pages training material published,

More than 300 TC Lecturers in in-service training.

 

Result-Area 3 - addressing the demand for teachers in educationally under-serviced communities and supply of classrooms and dormitories at TC (infrastructure support):

670 scholarship students commenced studying at 10 teacher colleges in 2015 (graduation 2017),

Construction of 3 school buildings (18 classrooms) and 3 dormitories (total of 250 beds) commenced in 2014 at 3 Teacher Colleges.
