2024 National Exams

National Exams begin next week

A total of 230,276 students in grades 8, 10 and 12 from 4,113 schools around the country are expected to sit for the final examinations starting next week.

These include:

·         120,000 grade eight students from 3,400  Primary schools

·         77,413 Grade 10 students from 482 High School and Secondary Schools

·         32,863 Grade 12 students from 225 Secondary and 6 National Schools of Excellence.

The Secretary for Education, Dr Uke Kombra confirmed the Examination dates as per the Education calendar, beginning next week Monday for the Grade 10s followed by Grade 12s and Grade 8s in the next three weeks respectively.

The Grade 10s will be the first to sit for the National Examinations from October 7th to 11th, the Grade 12s from October 14th to 18th and the Grade Eights from October 21st to the 24th.

The Grade 12 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) students have already sat for their examination at the beginning of September.

All examination papers have arrived in the country with packaging and distribution to schools well before the Examinations.

All the Provincial Education Advisors (PEAs), Provincial Examination Supervisors, Senior Secondary Inspectors, Guidance Officers, Principals and Governing Councils are asked to be vigilant and security conscious with the security of the Examination Materials and through to the actual administration by following the rules enforced by the Measurement Services Division.

“I once again call on everyone involved in the examination process to be vigilant at all times in order to prevent any tendencies towards mal-practices that may compromise the results. I also remind them that the penalty for cheating or assisting to cheat in national exams is non-certification and request all citizens to support fair examinations which are in our national interest.”

Dr. Kombra wished the entire grade 10, 12 and 8 students the best in their exams.
